Where will the Liminal State Panels go from here?
This is the first time these images have been exhibited and they were created so as to be freely available, on a continuous basis, to the public without charge. They are not meant to be secluded in a private collection though someone could buy and donate them to an appropriate place of mutual satisfaction to the collector and the artist. Their permanent home might be a lobby or some kind of semi enclosed space within any of the following institutional settings:
Museum
Courthouse
Legislative Chambers
Church
University/College
Corporate Headquarters
Medical Center
Among the criteria for an appropriate space is that it have security but be unlocked much of the time so that the general population can naturally circulate through the space. As you can tell by the church pews located in the center of the installation, it is best if the viewer is able to sit and contemplate them for more than a passing moment. Again, it is appropriate that there be no financial barriers to admission. Rural, suburban, or urban locations are all possibilities because sometimes, if it takes some effort to reach a contemplative space, it makes the total experience all that much more meaningful.
Until such time as the right location arises, the artist would like to see the Liminal State series travel to at least one other location within the State of New Mexico and then move on to other locations across the country. As this is the Panels first appearance in public, we would appreciate your musing over the issue of where might be a good place for it to go; somewhere it can reside for approximately 6 – 12 months.
Further information regarding the mechanics of arranging for its appearance elsewhere is available upon request. If you find the experience of being within this installation worthwhile, please help pass it along by participating in our efforts to find its next temporary residency location or a permanent home.
With many thanks,
Rob Rikoon
